Cable Knit Half-Zip Jumper: Questions Answered — Fit, Sizing, Fabric and Care
The short answer: a cable knit half-zip is a jumper with rope-cable stitching and a short zip at the neck, worn zipped up on its own or open over a T-shirt. Wardley's version — the Dulwich, £59.00 — is a cotton-rich cable knit with a ribbed stand collar and a metal half-zip, in a slim fit, sizes S–XXL, in four colours. If you are between sizes, size up. Below are the questions men actually ask before buying one, answered plainly.
What is the Dulwich made from?
A cotton-rich, mid-weight cable knit. Rope cables run down the body and sleeves; the stand collar is ribbed, with a short metal zip at the neck, and the cuffs and hem have a ribbed finish. It is a neater knit than a chunky fisherman rib — texture without the bulk.
How does it fit?
Slim fit — closer through the body than a relaxed knit. If you are between sizes, size up. Judge the fit from the garment measurements below rather than from a letter size carried across from another brand: the chest figures are garment widths measured flat.
What size should I buy? The measurements, in centimetres
These are garment measurements taken flat, as published on the product page; allow 1–3cm either way. Lengths are approximate:
| Size | Chest (flat) | Length (approx.) |
|---|---|---|
| S | 49cm | 64cm |
| M | 51cm | 66cm |
| L | 53cm | 68cm |
| XL | 55cm | 70cm |
| XXL | 57cm | 72cm |
The simplest check is to measure a jumper that already fits you — flat, across the chest — and compare. If you need help interpreting a measurement, email support@wardleylondon.co.uk before ordering, or see our size guide.
How do I wash it?
Hand wash, and do not dry clean — that is the care published on the product page. The label inside the garment is the final word.
What colours does it come in?
Four colours: Cream, Light Grey, Navy and Black, each in sizes S–XXL. Cream shows the cable texture most; Navy and Black are the easiest to wear with tailoring.
How do I wear it?
Zipped up on its own, or open over a T-shirt — the half-zip is what gives the choice. It wears with chinos or tailored trousers, and under an overcoat in winter. Our Journal guides go further: men's cable-knit jumpers — the UK guide and men's quarter-zip jumpers — the UK buying guide.
How much is it, and how does delivery work?
The Dulwich is £59.00, with free tracked UK delivery. Orders are dispatched in 1–2 working days and delivered in 6–10 working days from order.
What if it does not fit?
There are 30-day returns on unworn items. Return postage is paid by you unless the item is faulty or incorrect. Because this is a slim fit, checking the flat chest measurement above — and sizing up if you are between sizes — is the surest way to get it right first time.

What about the plain ribbed quarter-zip?
The Dulwich is the textured option; the plain counterpart is answered in our Belgrave quarter-zip questions answered — ribbed rather than cabled, in six plain colours. The Belgrave quarter-zip jumper (£59.00) is the comparison piece.
What about the cable knit crew neck?
If you want the cable texture without the zip, the Cotswold cable knit jumper (£59.00) is the crew-neck version — slim fit, six colours, measurements published for every size. Its full Q&A is the Cotswold questions answered.
